I had a huge dilemma, should I remove the old backsplash or paint it? The first option would take much more time, preparation, and money than painting. Since I had never painted a backsplash, I researched and tried it.
Below is the image of what the backsplash looked like. It was outdated and not to my liking.
I also wanted to replace the countertop, but it is not in my budget. Instead, I decided to paint the backsplash and hoped it would turn out well.
I cleaned the tile of dust and then primed it with Bulls Eye 1-2-3 water-based primer.
I waited for an hour and then painted the tile with my favorite color from Behr Dark Secret. I used the same in Cabinet Renovation Before and After.
I did two coats because it always looks better this way. I used a brush, but a roller can also do a great job also. Also, changing the outlets to black color will be a must (I will be getting a new one today).
Still looking for the lighting option, and when I find something, I will share it here on the blog. I can’t wait for this area of our house to be done so I can start the next project.
Isn’t it this stunning? This backsplash painting was such an easy DIY. I have never done it because I felt it would not look good, but it looks greatโthis is definitely one of the top recommendations when you want to transform your backsplash and save money.
