This was a long project that my husband and I brought to reality, with many ups and downs on the way. This was a tight-budget renovation for a waiting area for a business. I share this project not because everyone will have a reason to create this big-scale project but to inspire and give you some insights on making your vision a reality.
This is the project that tested my emotions and confidence a lot. My husband and I learned a lot and now were ready for a new adventure. But for now, let me share some details.
As you see in the image, we had a blank canvas.
Since this area was darker, I wanted to create a more moody feel. This space is dedicated to a waiting area in a business facility.
The color choice for the walls was Black Ice by Kelly Moore. I loved this shade and used the same paint color for the bathroom I redid (soon, I will share the bathroom transformation).
I have never thought I would paint a wall that dark, but honestly, if you don’t push yourself outside your comfort zone, you will never create unique spaces.
How to make easy DIY wall paneling
Since one of the walls is more textured, I decided to add some elements to the top to make it stand out.
As for the moss art, it was actually how my inspiration started for this project. The video is below if you are interested in how I made the wall art.
Originally, I wanted to have benches that we purchased from Wayfair, but after we installed the floor, the color of the benches didn’t look good, so I decided to build a nook. We have never built the furniture (except the coffee table I did for a kitchen area HERE).
I love the wireless lights above the DIY art I created. You can get them HERE.
So, we watched some YouTube videos and Pinterest inspiration. My goal was to make it look appealing and comfortable, yet simply because we had no skills for professional furniture builders.

As for how we did each piece and step, I will create another post in the future with all the details.
Slowly, the space started taking shape; some plans were changing because of issues we were running into, but still, my husband and I managed to create an amazing space on a budget.
I smile because I see the end of the project, which has been a lot; I’m showing you in the images just a small part of this project. On the other side, we painted a huge ceiling and much more.
I’m so happy, and while I’m typing this post, I smile. I’m happy with the final result, and I smile because it turned out so beautiful. Also, being functional is a top priority as well.
