Annuals vs. perennial flowers? Since I started focusing more on my garden when covid started, I wanted to learn more about my new hobby. I was always confused about the annual or perennial tags when visiting the garden store. Instead of learning about it, I ignored them. I focused on buying flowers rather than making the right decision for my garden. Knowing the type of flowers you purchase will help determine your garden design, care, and more.
What is the difference between annual and perennial flowers?
When starting gardening, the first thing you need to know is the following:
Annual flower plants have only one growing season, while perennials return every season. The annual flowerers have constant color and come in many colors, sizes, and forms. They last only one season and need to be planted annually.
Perennials are the best choice if you want to plant once and forget about it. Well, not literally, but the perennial flowers/shrubs require much less work than the annual flowers. They can be costly, and their flowering lasts less than the annuals.
You can have all annuals, all perennials, or both. Plant whatever you like and enjoy your garden. Plant more perennials if you want the same plant/flower/shrub coming back each season. I love both for different reasons.

I have annuals and perennials in my garden, and I love them equally. All the plants need attention in one way or another, fertilizer, watering, cleaning the weeds, pruning (for some types), and more.

I have been enjoying my garden and have been learning a lot. I am not afraid to replant and try different ways of planting or various combinations.
